My Story

The things we carry deserve more than a coping strategy.

I am a Latina immigrant, born in Bogota and raised in Barrancabermeja, Colombia. I built my life and career in the United States carrying everything that journey meant. That experience is not just a detail about me. It is at the heart of how I work. I understand what it means to straddle two worlds, to carry expectations that were never spoken out loud, and to spend years being strong before you ever learn it is okay not to be.

I became a psychotherapist because I believe the things we carry from childhood, from our cultures, and from years of simply surviving deserve real attention, real understanding, and real change. Not just a way to cope, but actual transformation.

Much of my work centers around sleep, trauma, and stress as deeply connected parts of how we function. Many of the people I work with are capable, high-achieving adults who look fine on the outside but are quietly exhausted. They are tired of just managing. I help them get to the root of what is keeping them stuck.

I am direct. I value evidence. And I deeply respect the courage it takes to look at your own patterns and decide you want something different. Therapy with me is structured and goal-oriented, but never rigid or cold. There is room for honesty, humor, and humanity.

Why Sleep

Sleep is a passion, not just a specialty. I genuinely believe the world would be a better place if everybody slept better. Rest is not a luxury. It is the foundation everything else is built on, and that belief shapes everything about the way I work.

My Style

What to expect in our sessions.

Honestly? I get a little nervous too on our consultation call. Meeting someone new for the first time is vulnerable on both sides. What I bring to that call is the same thing I bring to every session: genuine curiosity about you, warmth, and a real commitment to making our time together worthwhile.

My style is structured and goal-oriented, because I want us to always be working toward what matters most to you. But structured does not mean cold. There is room for laughter, for honesty, for the messy parts. I have cried with clients before, because sometimes what people carry into that room is heavy and I am human too. If you ask me something personal, I will share. But I will not overshare, and I will never make the session about me. This is your space. You are showing up with so much vulnerability, and I want that to feel like a conversation, not an interrogation.

I will always validate how you feel, and I will also gently hold you accountable. My job is not to simply agree with everything, but to help you look at the patterns that have not been serving you and work toward something different. That part takes courage, and I will be right there with you.

I also take time off throughout the year to travel, rest, and recharge. I believe a therapist who takes care of herself shows up better for her clients, and I want to always show up fully for you.

And yes, you can expect my accent. I am proud of it. In all my years as a therapist, it has never been a barrier to the work we do together. Sometimes I will pause and ask how to say a word in English, and I think that is just fine. It is part of who I am, and I bring all of who I am into this work.

Outside the Office

A little more about me.

Outside of work, I am always planning the next trip with my husband, and yes, sometimes the cats come too. Gigi and Pola are my two cats. They are not HIPAA trained, but they do crash sessions occasionally.

I am a lifelong Mario fan and I do love reading for fun, though I will be honest: I read so much for work that carving out time for pleasure reading is its own challenge. When I get there, it is usually psychological thrillers, because apparently I do not leave work completely at the door. I also love museums: art, history, natural history. I will read every single placard.

Movement matters to me personally, not just professionally. I dance, I work out, and I spend as much time in nature as I can: beach, mountains, lakes, ideally all three in one trip. And when I need to reset, I bake. There is something about making something with your hands that quiets everything else.

I am also someone who genuinely loves people. Spending time with friends, discovering new food, celebrating together, connecting through our culture, going on little adventures: that is where I recharge. Community is not something I just talk about in the therapy room. It is something I live.
